I lead the Molecular Biotechnology team (BioMolLab) at the Faculty of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), where we specialize in the development of enzymes with unique and innovative properties for a wide range of industrial applications. Our research focuses on enzymes for molecular diagnostics and DNA amplification, including DNA polymerases and helicases, nucleases for the removal of genetic material from biotechnological products and biologic drugs, plastic-degrading enzymes such as cutinases, esterases, and PETases, as well as engineered fluorescent proteins for the detection of environmental contaminants, including heavy metals and microplastics. One of our key achievements is the successful development of more than a dozen enzymes for QIAGEN, including the Saltonase nuclease, designed for both research applications in molecular biology and for bioprocessing aimed at the production of nucleic-acid-free biotechnological products.
